We provide training to students who require a Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness, looking to pursue higher education within the mental health sector.

Course Overview

The Mental Health Awareness course is an ideal short course for anyone who would like to start to develop their knowledge and understanding of the ideas related to mental health and some of the causes of mental health difficulties. Learners will gain an awareness of the myths and stereotypical misconceptions that are so often linked to mental health difficulties. As well as, develop their knowledge of the rights of individuals with mental health issues. This course would suit anyone looking to gain a basic understanding about mental health. No previous qualifications are needed to join this course. However, it is recommended that you have some basic computer skills and also writing skills at a level 1 standard. Your dedicated tutor will be supporting you throughout this course and will be available for you to contact them via telephone and email during the course.

Course Content:

  • Growing an awareness of what is meant by mental health
  • Learning some of the social and personal effects of mental ill health
  • Exploring some of the responses to mental health issues
  • Developing awareness of the cultural diversity related to mental health issues

How is the course assessed?

All learners will complete and submit one assessment booklet with written questions and answers by
the end of the course.

5 weeks

Entry requirements

There are no pre-entry requirements for this qualification and no minimum age requirement has been set for registration.

Certification:

On completion of the course, learners will gain an accredited qualification and certificate from NCFE CACHE.

It is recommended that individuals complete this course before progressing onto the Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness course. Or progression onto the Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.
